Mechanical and electrical resistance:
going beyond the requirements of the standard

Section 21 of the IEC 60309-1 standard (plug socket-outlets for industrial purposes) states that equipment must withstand, without excessive wear or other damage, the mechanical, electrical and thermal stresses to which it is subjected during normal use. This ‘normal use’ is assessed by the same appliance passing the successive tests in sections 20 (breaking capacity), 21 (normal operation) and 22 (overheating).
Compliance is verified by testing each appliance with a new complementary appliance.

MARECHAL® appliances are tested
with a much higher number of cycles.

In addition to the tests required by the standard, appliances with covers are also tested by opening and closing the covers a number of times equal to the number of cycles.
