MARECHAL® metal appliances
for C.E.M. environments
MARECHAL ELECTRIC has developed a reliable and simple solution with excellent performance in electromagnetic environments, available for industrial ranges or ranges intended for potentially explosive atmospheres, for high currents up to 1,250 A, and for low currents up to 37 contacts. This solution is particularly suitable for electromagnetic environments using variable speed drives for electric motors. Variable speed drives incorporate power electronic switches (diodes, thyristors, bipolar transistors with insulated grids, etc.) to allow variation of the motor’s power supply frequency, and therefore control its speed.
When switching these switches, harmful electromagnetic pollution is generated, consisting of:
- current/voltage harmonics
- high-frequency (HF) interference, generally between 2 and 16 kHz
This pollution can lead to operating losses caused by overloads or protection devices being triggered unexpectedly. To reduce this interference, MARECHAL ELECTRIC’s solution is to use equipment with metal enclosures and to combine them with metal accessories (handle, sleeve, wall-mounted box, spacer) with a cable gland fitted with suitable shielding.
